For our location in Freiburg im Breisgau, we are looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer (m/f/d). 
In this role you will have the opportunity to contribute to the commercialization of groundbreaking technology.

a Senior Electrical Engineer (m/f/d) you will take technical ownership of equipment electrical design, installation, and continuous optimization. You’ll work hands-on with high‑current systems, and industrial power distribution, essential for our pilot line and upcoming production environment.

Your Mission

Equipment Development & Commissioning

- Lead the electrical installation, commissioning, and qualification of new manufacturing equipment (in‑house designed and vendor-supplied).

- Review and validate electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and component selections. 

- Define requirements for future equipment and collaborate with vendors on design improvements.

 

Power Systems & High-Current Engineering

- Perform load calculations and size cables, breakers, switches, and protection devices.

- Work with high‑current circuits, transformers, busbars, and power distribution networks. 

- Ensure compliance with EU and international electrical standards for industrial equipment.

 

Troubleshooting & Optimization

- Conduct root-cause analyses on equipment issues (electrical, control, and power electronics).

- Improve uptime and stability of pilot line equipment by defining preventive maintenance strategies. 

- Support process engineers with electrical insights to optimize heating, measurement, and control systems.


Documentation & Safety

- Create and maintain electrical documentation (schematics, risk assessments, component lists).

- Drive safety culture by ensuring equipment complies with relevant norms (DIN VDE, EN 60204-1, etc.). 

- Support internal audits and CE-compliance workflows.
 

Team & Leadership
- Collaborate closely with mechanical, process, and automation teams.

- Support hiring, mentoring, and onboarding of new team members. 

- Represent the electrical domain in cross-functional project reviews.

Your profile

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or similar.
  • 5+ years of experience in industrial electrical engineering, preferably in:
    • power electronics
    • semiconductor/solar manufacturing
    • industrial heating systems
    • high‑current applications
  • Strong understanding of:
    • analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuits
    • protection concepts for high-power systems
    • industrial electrical norms (DIN VDE, EN 60204‑1, EN 61010, etc.)
  • Hands-on experience with E‑CAD tools (e.g., EPLAN, WSCAD, or similar).
  • Strong diagnostic skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex equipment.
  • Fluent English; German a plus.
