For our location in Freiburg in Breisgau, we are looking for a Gas Mixing System Engineer (m/f/d).

At NexWafe, we are developing a pioneering process to produce silicon wafers for PV applications with fewer process steps, leading to significant reductions in production costs, energy consumption, and CO₂ emissions.

Your Mission
  • Ensure the smooth and safe operation of CVD subsystems, including gas supply and off-gas systems, to support high-quality wafer production for the solar industry.
  • Create P&ID flow diagrams using CAD tools and document processes in line with national and international standards (including Standard Operating procedures, work instructions and maintenance instructions).
  • Take responsibility for improving CVD subsystems and defining long-term strategies for components and products by working closely with cross-functional teams, external suppliers, and contractors to turn ideas into real-world solutions.
  • Optimize system uptime through thoughtful design decisions—whether it’s selecting materials, designing for easier cleaning/purging, or planning for quick MFC replacements via bypasses.
  • Conduct regular checks to ensure gas and system purity, supporting the highest quality standards in production.
  • While supporting operations at our Freiburg site, you’ll also contribute to the design and development of our future large-scale industrial plant in Bitterfeld.
Your profile
  • Master's degree or diploma in chemical engineering or similar.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in gas systems - Industrial experience and proven project management skills.
  • Fluent in English. German is a plus.
  • Experience in the semiconductor sector is an advantage.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to analyze complex challenges and develop effective solutions.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to clearly convey technical information to teams and stakeholders.
  • Team Collaboration: Ability to work within cross-functional teams to achieve project goals and foster a collaborative work environment.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to evolving technologies, processes, and priorities in a dynamic photovoltaic industry.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous focus on precision and quality to ensure system reliability and compliance with safety standards.
